Domestic manufacturers are actively looking for domestic tapes that can replace foreign brands, which is both a challenge and an opportunity

Everyone must be familiar with items such as tapes. It is very convenient to use them to stick things together. In fact, most of the tapes we commonly use are transparent tapes. This type of tape is manufactured to meet the needs of civilian production. There is another type of tape that is mainly used to meet industrial applications. Among these tapes, fiber tape is a typical product.

fiber tapes

It uses high-strength glass fiber yarn or cloth as reinforcing material, PET film as the base material, and specially configured high-performance pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber as the adhesive, which is processed and coated. Compared with ordinary tapes, fiber tapes have outstanding viscosity, tensile strength, wear resistance and moisture resistance. Therefore, they can be widely used in places where ordinary tapes cannot be used well. Common fiber tapes include striped fiber tapes and grid fiber tapes, but there will be performance differences in specific applications. Therefore, when choosing, it is best to communicate with the manufacturer and choose the product that suits you.

The world's first fiber tape was invented by Richard Drew, an American 3M engineer, in 1930. It was used to seal packages in the early days. During the Great Depression, it was even widely used for simple house repairs. With the continuous development of the times, the functional coverage of fiber tape has become more and more impressive, and its application has also been greatly expanded.

However, due to the early start of foreign fiber tapes, the current domestic market in the field of fiber tapes, such as 3M, Tesa and other foreign brands account for a relatively high proportion, while domestic brands account for a relatively low proportion. For domestic tape manufacturers, it can be said that there is a long way to go. However, it is worth noting that with the continuous increase in the United States' awareness of prevention against China, the promulgation of strict bills such as the "Chips and Science Act" will inevitably force domestic manufacturers to work hard and forge ahead in more industries and industrial chains, in order to gradually establish their own ecological chain and domestic substitution model.

The same is true in the field of fiber tapes. Many domestic manufacturers that need to use it are also actively looking for domestic tapes that can replace foreign brands. In addition to preparing for a rainy day, it can also achieve cost reduction. We all know that once China achieves a breakthrough in certain fields or technologies, due to the huge domestic market and manufacturing potential, it will inevitably lead to a substantial price reduction of the corresponding products, so that more people can enjoy high-quality and low-cost products. It can be said that domestic substitution is both a challenge and an opportunity.
