The adhesive strength of EVA foam double-sided tape is primarily determined by four factors: adhesive type, substrate characteristics, bonding conditions, and usage environment. Choosing the right configuration and using the correct method are crucial for optimal results.
Adhesive is Key: Ordinary acrylic adhesives are suitable for light-duty fixing; high-tack acrylic adhesives/hot melt adhesives are suitable for medium and heavy-duty applications; silicone adhesives are resistant to high and low temperatures (-50~150℃) and are suitable for special materials or extreme environments.
Substrate Selection: High-density EVA (30-50kg/m³) offers stable adhesion; low-density EVA is soft and easily adheres to curved surfaces. Thicknesses of 0.5-1mm are suitable for flat surfaces, while 2-5mm can fill gaps (≤3mm). Thicker tape does not necessarily mean stronger adhesion.
Proper Bonding: The contact surfaces must be clean, dry, and flat (free of dust and oil). Press firmly for at least 30 seconds (applying slight pressure) during bonding. Peak adhesion is achieved after 24 hours.
Adhesion Requirements: Environmental Requirements: Standard models are temperature resistant from -10 to 70℃. For high temperatures, low temperatures, or outdoor exposure, select a dedicated weather-resistant model.
Lightweight Fixing (hooks, small picture frames): Regular adhesive + 0.5-1mm thin layer, withstands 0.5-1kg, holds for over 6 months.
Medium-weight Fixing (appliance floor mats, car interior): High-adhesion adhesive + 1-2mm medium-thickness layer, withstands 1-3kg, holds for over 1 year.
Heavy-duty/Curved Surface Fixing (equipment splicing, curved parts): Strong adhesive + 2-5mm thick layer, withstands 3-10kg, provides a more secure seal by filling gaps.
Wipe the contact surfaces with alcohol to thoroughly remove impurities;
Apply even pressure after bonding to ensure complete adhesion;
Avoid humid and high-temperature exposure to extend adhesion life.
