Fiber tape is widely used. What should we pay attention to when using it?

2025-07-17

The world's first fiber tape was invented by 3M in the United States. In 1930, Richard Drew, a young 3M engineer, invented Scotch tape, which was later named glass tape. Fiber tape is an adhesive tape product made of polyester film as the base material, reinforced with glass fiber or polyester fiber braid, and coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive. Some companies will also choose BOPP instead of PET base film to reduce costs.

Main features of fiber tape: plastic fiber reinforced backing material, extremely high tensile strength, high wear resistance and moisture resistance, strong tensile strength, friction resistance, not easy to break, strong adhesion, good packaging effect and not easy to fall off. The unique pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has excellent long-lasting adhesion and special properties, which can meet various usage requirements.

Common fiber tape types and their uses:

Grid fiber tape: Made of high-strength glass fiber yarn as a reinforced backing material, double-sided coated with a strong adhesive pressure-sensitive adhesive; the tape has extremely high tension strength, strong viscosity, and high wear resistance and moisture resistance. Single-sided fiber tape is suitable for high-strength packaging and bundling. The double-sided fiber tape produced by our company breaks the monopoly of double-sided fiber tape in the high-end sealing strip market abroad. The high-strength adhesive tape creates a collision-proof and quiet home environment, filling the gap in double-sided tape for high-end sealing strips.

Striped fiber tape: With glass fiber composite polyester PET film as the base material, it strengthens the longitudinal tensile strength and ensures strong bundling performance. It has strong tensile resistance and wear resistance, and is suitable for medium and high-strength packaging and bundling. The non-residue adhesive tape series is suitable for refrigerators, air conditioners and other home appliances.
