Main characteristics of transparent tape

2026-01-12

Adhesive tape is made by taking BOPP base film, treating one side with high-voltage corona discharge to make the surface rough, then applying adhesive, and finally cutting it into small rolls using a hot wire. This is the adhesive tape we use every day.

The adhesive used in the tape is acrylic adhesive, also known as pressure-sensitive adhesive, whose main component is resin. Resin is a high-molecular-weight active substance, and temperature has a certain influence on its molecular activity. The resin content of the adhesive directly affects the performance of the tape. Normal sealing tape has an initial tack of ≥13 (steel ball number), and the adhesive thickness is generally 22 micrometers, which is the standard thickness.

Colored tapes are used for marking and masking purposes, with beige and light brown being the most common colors. The color of the tape is the color of the adhesive.

If you stick two pieces of transparent tape together, press them firmly, and then quickly pull them apart, you can see the purity and transparency of the base film by observing the adhesive that has been pulled off one side.
