Manufacturers test the peel strength of Mylar PET tape. The peel strength of Mylar PET tape reflects its adhesiveness; a high peel strength indicates a high level of adhesion. Poor adhesiveness can easily lead to issues like peeling at the ends.
I) Mylar Tape 180℃ Peel Strength:
1) Principle: Stress is applied using a 180℃ peel method, causing the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape to exert the force required to achieve a specific breaking rate at the bonded joint.
2) Apparatus:
A. Pressure roller device
B. Testing machine: Electronic peel testing equipment
3) Test conditions:
A. Laboratory temperature: 25±2℃; Relative humidity: 50%-80%
B. The adhesive material to be bonded should be placed under the above conditions for 2 hours.
4) Test steps:
A. Measure the tape width using a digital caliper and the tape thickness using an outside micrometer.
B. Peel off the adhesive tape, cut off the outer layer, and evenly peel the tape to ensure adhesion between the adhesive and the substrate. Then, use the rollers of the rolling device to roll the sample back and forth under its own weight.
C. Test placement: Fold one end of the sample and peel off the adhesive surface. Clamp the substrate in the moving clamp and the free end of the sample in the left clamp, ensuring the peeled surface is aligned with the testing machine.
D. The testing machine continuously peels off the adhesive surface, effectively removing the adhesive.
E. Read the values on the display screen.
