Tape is composed of two parts: base material and adhesive. It connects two or more unconnected objects together through bonding. A layer of adhesive is coated on its surface. According to the base material, it can be divided into BOPP tape, cloth-based tape, kraft paper tape, masking tape, fiber tape, PVC tape, PE foam tape, etc. According to the adhesiveness, it can be divided into single-sided tape and double-sided tape. Today, I will mainly talk about fiber tape.
Fiberglass tape uses high-strength fiberglass yarn or cloth as reinforcing material, PET film (OPP film) as base material, and specially configured high-performance pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber as adhesive, and is made by process treatment and coating. The unique high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has excellent long-term adhesion and special properties, so it has been widely used.
High-performance fiber tape has the following characteristics:
1) Plastic fiber reinforced backing material, extremely high tensile strength, not easy to break. Strong adhesion, perfect packaging effect and not easy to loosen;
2) High wear resistance and moisture resistance;
3) High transparency, the tape will never debond, and will not leave residual glue, marks or scratches;
4) The specially configured high-performance adhesive layer has a wide temperature adaptability range and can be pasted in different environments such as winter (above 0℃) and summer (note that the optimal operating environment temperature is 15℃-35℃, and it becomes more difficult to paste as the temperature continues to decrease due to the gradual hardening of the adhesive layer). Once pasted, it can maintain a good pasting effect in a wider temperature range.
Filament tape also has different types, striped fiber tape and single-sided mesh fiber tape, which are generally used for sealing and bundling, including the packaging of metal and wooden furniture: pallet/carton transportation, carton packaging, packaging of zero-load items, etc. Some double-sided mesh fiber tapes are currently used in the door and window sealing industry (special high-strength glue is applied on both sides of the fiber tape)
Commonly used in metal processing, home appliances, electronics and general industrial markets. Excellent adhesion under various conditions. This adhesive has good initial adhesion and firmness, and is not easy to slip. The strong, transparent film backing is wear-resistant and moisture-proof, aging-resistant, and can also protect fibers and adhesives. The backing, fiber, and adhesive are used together to have high tensile strength and shear strength, providing an extra layer of safety protection for stable components.
At present, the quality of fiber tapes on the market is uneven, and the requirements for high strength and no residue of fiber tapes are getting higher and higher. There are more and more manufacturers. It is very important to choose a fiber tape manufacturer. So what should be paid attention to when identifying fiber tapes?
1. Color: Most of the fiber tapes themselves are transparent PET polyester base film and white glass fiber yarn, coated with high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesive. Therefore, the transparency is high, the tape will never come off, and no residual glue, marks or scratches will be left;
2. It is recommended to use up the general fiber tape after half a year or so, and it needs to be placed in a ventilated and dry room temperature environment (about 25 degrees Celsius);
3. The bonding strength depends on the contact area between the adhesive surface and the adhered surface, so appropriate pressure and time can improve the bonding strength;
4. The surface of the adhered material should be kept clean and free of oil and dirt, and can be cleaned with solvents such as isopropyl alcohol and acetone when necessary;
5. The adhesive surface is flat: an uneven adhesive surface will lead to uneven distribution of viscosity, and wrinkles and bounces will occur during use.
