The differences between carton sealing tape and hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive tape.

2026-01-07

Packaging tape is primarily made from BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) film as the base material, and then coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive emulsion through a heating and uniform application process. The main component of the pressure-sensitive adhesive emulsion is butyl ester.

Packaging tape has strong adhesion to various types of varnished, polished, and laminated surfaces, including PET and PP transparent boxes, films, and non-woven fabric products.  It is used in cosmetic box packaging, food box packaging, cigarette box packaging, Tetra Pak beverage packaging, furniture edge banding, and in the electronics industry, automotive interior sealing, headlight manufacturing, and windshield assembly. It also has strong adhesion to non-woven sanitary napkins, diapers, baby diapers, insoles, daily necessities, coated and laminated label paper, double-sided adhesive tape for labels, mouse traps, fly paper, wooden floors, carpet lamination, and bandages.

Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive is a type of pressure-sensitive adhesive, mainly composed of synthetic rubber, resin, and rubber oil. It is heated into a liquid state and then coated onto substrates such as cotton paper, cloth, or plastic film to create a new type of adhesive tape. Its main advantage is its low cost, but its drawback is that its viscosity is significantly affected by temperature. It is mainly used for various types of box sealing, paper packaging, beverage bottle labels, sealing aluminum foil, flexible packaging, and other environmentally friendly paper pallets for packaging. Hot-melt pressure-sensitive tape is suitable for various materials.
