How to remove tape stains?

No matter how old or large the adhesive residue is, applying some nail polish remover (the kind used to remove nail polish) and letting it soak for a while, then wiping it with a tissue, will ensure the surface looks brand new. However, there's a problem: nail polish remover is highly corrosive and cannot be used on surfaces susceptible to corrosion, such as painted furniture or laptop casings (the first time I used this method, although the adhesive residue was cleaned very well, the paint on the laptop casing was severely damaged, and some nail polish remover seeped into the internal casing, causing corrosion as well). Therefore, while nail polish remover is highly effective at removing tape residue, it's crucial to protect the item from corrosion.

Suitable for: Surfaces with long-standing, large, difficult-to-clean, and non-corrosive adhesive residue. Hair dryer heating: Turn the hair dryer to its highest heat setting and blow on the tape residue for a while to soften it, then wipe it off with a stiff eraser or a soft cloth.

Suitable for: Smaller, longer-standing tape residue, but the item must have sufficient heat resistance. Soaking Adhesive Residue in Medical Alcohol: Apply some medical alcohol to the surface of the tape, let it soak for a while, then wipe it off with a soft cloth or tissue. Of course, the item with the tape residue must be resistant to alcohol corrosion. Similarly, expired perfume or astringent toner can be used instead of alcohol, as they contain some alcohol (see: What are the uses of expired or unsuitable skincare and cosmetic products?). Both are suitable for any item, as the alcohol content is not high.

Suitable for: Surfaces that are not easily corroded.

Removing Adhesive Residue with an Eraser: This method was often used when I was in school. Erasing with an eraser and the eraser shavings can pick up the adhesive residue.

Suitable for: Small, freshly left marks. Ineffective for large areas of tape residue.

Removing Adhesive Residue with Computer Cleaning Agent: Cleaning agents usually used to wipe camera lenses and computer screens can also be used to remove tape residue.

Suitable for: Very effective for tape residue on smooth surfaces. This time-saving and labor-saving "adhesive remover," also known as "adhesive remover," is available at some auto parts stores. Simply spray it on the residue, and it will wipe away quickly.

Suitable for: large areas of stubborn adhesive residue. However, if you don't frequently encounter adhesive residue, there's no need to buy a special bottle; my little trick will suffice.
