In daily life, we use a lot of tape, and over time, removing it leaves stubborn tape residue. No matter how old or large the tape residue is, a few drops of nail polish remover (the kind used by women to clean nail polish) can be applied. Let it soak for a while, then wipe it with a tissue, and the surface of the item will be as good as new. However, there's a problem: because nail polish remover is highly corrosive, it cannot be used on surfaces that are susceptible to corrosion, such as painted furniture or laptop casings. Therefore, while nail polish remover is very effective at removing tape residue, you must be careful to protect the affected item from corrosion.
Applicable scope: Surfaces of items where the tape residue has been present for a long time, is large in area, difficult to clean, and not easily corroded.
Heating the tape residue with a hairdryer: Set the hairdryer to the highest heat setting and blow on the tape residue for a while, allowing it to soften. Then, wipe it off with a slightly hard eraser or a soft cloth.
Applicable scope: Suitable for items with relatively small tape residue that has been present for a long time, but the item must have sufficient heat resistance.
Soaking the tape residue with rubbing alcohol: Apply some rubbing alcohol to the surface of the residue, let it soak for a while, and then wipe it off with a soft cloth or tissue. Of course, the item with the tape residue must not be susceptible to alcohol corrosion. Similarly, if you have expired or unused perfume or astringent toner, you can also use them as a substitute for alcohol, as they contain a certain amount of alcohol (see: What other uses do expired or unsuitable skincare and cosmetics have?), and these two can be used on any item, as the alcohol content is not too high.
Applicable scope: Surfaces of items that are not easily corroded. Eraser for removing adhesive residue: This method was often used when I was a child in school. Rubbing with an eraser, the eraser crumbs would effectively lift the adhesive residue.
Applicable scope: Suitable for small areas and newly left marks. It's ineffective for large areas of adhesive residue.
Computer cleaning solution for removing adhesive residue: The cleaning solution usually used to wipe camera lenses and computer screens can also be used to remove adhesive residue.
Applicable scope: Very effective for adhesive residue on smooth surfaces.
Time-saving and effortless "adhesive remover": Also known as "sticker remover," it's available in some auto parts stores. Simply spray it on the affected area, and the residue can be wiped away quickly.
Applicable scope: For large areas of difficult-to-remove adhesive residue. However, if you don't frequently encounter this problem, there's no need to buy a bottle specifically; the other simple methods will suffice.
