How to Distinguish Between Regular and High-Temperature Masking Tape?

High-temperature masking tape, as the name suggests, is a type of masking tape that can be used in high-temperature environments. It's a widely used specialty tape, typically used for fixing and masking in high-temperature environments such as automotive painting, baking paint, leather processing, coating masking, electronic component manufacturing, and printed circuit boards.

This type of high-temperature masking tape is made with special substrates and adhesives, and its manufacturing process is more complex than that of regular masking tape, resulting in a significantly higher production cost. Therefore, some unscrupulous manufacturers use ordinary substrates or adhesives to replace those used in high-temperature masking tape, aiming to save on production costs. This greatly reduces the product's temperature resistance. Since the two types of masking tape are mostly indistinguishable in appearance, consumers find it difficult to detect the difference. However, a small number of packaging manufacturers may use different colors to differentiate between regular and high-temperature masking tape.

To avoid the situation where two types of masking tape are the same color, here's a simple way to distinguish them: simply place the non-adhesive side of the masking tape on a lighter for 3 to 5 seconds, then touch it. If it's regular masking tape, some adhesive will seep onto your hand, while high-temperature masking tape won't. However, please be careful when doing this.
