We often use double-sided tape in our daily lives, but we often don't know how to distinguish its quality. Checking the quality of double-sided tape mainly involves the following points:
During the slitting process, if the slitting blade is not properly adjusted or the blade is not sharp enough, cracks will appear on the face paper or backing paper of the double-sided tape. The fibers pulled out from the cracks will then be stuck together by the adhesive. Cracks may occur continuously or randomly, and may appear on one side of the roll of double-sided tape or on both sides. Therefore, before processing the double-sided tape, it is essential to carefully inspect the backing paper and face paper for small cracks.
Smooth, undamaged edges on the roll of double-sided tape are fundamental to ensuring tape quality. Therefore, before processing, carefully inspect the slit edges of the roll for rough edges and damage caused by improper storage or transportation. Also, unwind the roll of tape 4-5 times and carefully check the slit edges.
Sticky edges on the double-sided tape or missing areas of silicone coating on the backing paper will cause the face paper to tear during waste removal, preventing normal production. Before processing, take a section of self-adhesive material about 1 meter long and peel it off by hand. Check if there are any parts that cannot be peeled off smoothly and evenly at the edges or other parts. Usually, the adhesion between the edge of the face paper and the backing paper occurs on a slit roll of the whole roll of coated self-adhesive material, and it usually only occurs in the outer 7 to 10 meters. Therefore, when we encounter adhesion at the edges of a slit roll of double-sided tape, we should not immediately conclude that the whole roll of paper has this problem.
