The Influence of Cardboard Boxes on the Adhesion of Sealing Tape and Testing Methods

2026-09-18 - Leave me a message

Some cardboard boxes, due to their high surface glue density and smooth surface, are prone to difficulties in adhering to transparent sealing tape. This can lead to the tape springing off or failing to adhere properly when sealing the box after packing goods, resulting in ineffective sealing. For linerboard used as the sealing face paper, a tape adhesion test should be performed. The specific method is as follows:

Take a transparent tape with moderate adhesion, attach it to the linerboard, and then tear the tape to separate it from the linerboard. If the linerboard face paper can be torn off along with the tape, it indicates that the sealing tape is suitable for sealing this cardboard box. If it can be easily separated without damage to the linerboard surface, it indicates that the linerboard is not suitable for tape sealing.
